The Multi volume select modifier allows you to choose which parts of a model are deformed by your modifiers, you can add multiple volumes to build up your selection and for each volume you have control over the falloff distance outside the volume and the weight of the volume as well. You can easily position the volumes and change their sizes and if you have the selection you want and are not going to change it you can lock that in. This takes the number of selection modifiers available to four joining the normal single Volume select, the Vertex color select and the Material Select options. You can can add selection modifiers to any point in the modifier stack, so if you have an object where part of it you want to twist and another part you want to bend then that is easy to do.<\/p>\n

Multi Volume Select Param Description<\/h3>\n

Enabled<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Is the selection enabled.<\/p>\n

Order<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The position in the modifier stack the selection is made, usually the modifiers are worked through in order but if you need to change the order of the modifiers you can alter the Order values for each. The modifiers are applied with the lower order numbers first. You can view the current order of the modifiers by clicking the ‘Modifier Order’ button on the Modify Object component.<\/p>\n

Freeze Selection<\/strong><\/h4>\n

You can lock the current selection by checking this values, this means the weights will not be recalculated so making it fast. If you do change any setting you will need to set this to false again for changes to be made.<\/p>\n

Use Stack Verts<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Apply against previously selected vertices in the modifier stack.<\/p>\n

Show Weights<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Show the weights for each vertex, blue weights are very low, green are medium going on to red which are heavily selected.<\/p>\n

Gizmo Col<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The color of the volume mesh.<\/p>\n

Gizmo Size<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The size of the vertex weight gizmos.<\/p>\n

Add Volume<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Click this button to add a new volume to the selection.<\/p>\n

Volume Params<\/h3>\n

Each volume you add has some params that control how it calculates the vertex weights.<\/p>\n

Enabled<\/strong><\/h4>\n

You can enable each volume, this makes it easy to setup multiple selection schemes for a mesh and then turn them on and off as needed.<\/p>\n

Type<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The type of volume to use for the selection, the two options are Sphere or Box, depending on this value you will either see a Radius or Size value appear.<\/p>\n

Size<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The size of the box volume.<\/p>\n

Radius<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The radius of the selection sphere volume.<\/p>\n

Weight<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The maximum weight of the this volumes selection.<\/p>\n

Falloff<\/strong><\/h4>\n

How quickly the selection fallsoff outside the volume, low values means a slow gradual falloff so a very soft selection, higher values lead to a quick falloff and a harder selection.<\/p>\n

Origin<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The position in local space of the center of the volume.<\/p>\n

Target<\/strong><\/h4>\n

You can link the position of a volume to another object in your scene by selecting it in this param.<\/p>\n

Delete Volume<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Delete the volume.<\/p>\n
